Beg/Int You have been dancing Collegiate Shag for 6-12 months. You are familiar with various basic footworks and moves. You feel comfortable dancing at socials. You understand the fundamentals of the dance and now you are ready to enhance your skills, learn new patterns and dance faster and faster.
Int/Adv You have been dancing Collegiate Shag for at least 1-2 years. You have attended some Collegiate Shag festivals. Even when dancing fast, you are able to stay calm and maintain flow. You are eager to further improve your musicality and learn more footwork variations and complex patterns.
Adv You have been committed to Collegiate Shag for a solid 2-3 years, regularly attending Collegiate Shag festivals. You feel at home on the social dance floor, and you are able to add complex patterns and improvisation into your dance. Now you are ready to focus more on details and techniques.

Juls and Sirom met in Autumn 2018 at a Shag Workshop in Innsbruck and quickly bonded over their shared passion for Collegiate Shag. Since then, they've trained regularly, traveled to international festivals, and refined their dance skills. Their focus on technique, rather than just moves, has deepened their understanding of lead-follow communication, making Shag a more relaxed and smooth dance. Now, they're excited to spread their love for Collegiate Shag beyond Innsbruck and share their expertise worldwide.
Lenka and Jirka are the leading faces of Pilsen Swing. Each found their way to swing differently: Lenka "refreshed" her diverse dance portfolio with it in 2008, while Jirka made his dance debut in 2015 by joining Lenka's classes. Their paths crossed there, and since 2017, they have been performing and teaching together regularly. Lenka loves incorporating perspectives and techniques from various dance styles she's experienced throughout her life, while Jirka focuses on the connection between partners during the dance. Both pay great attention to technique and detail, making their lectures and performances lively and dynamic.
Veronika and Standa! These Collegiate Shag enthusiasts are not just teachers; they're also important community builders in Bratislavs and Brno. Their shag journey started very similarly, yet in two different cities. With a few friends, they rented a small studio to dive deep into the dance and slowly introduced this high-energy style to their communities. Although they don’t teach together often, they certainly love dancing together and teamed up specially for Absolutely Shag! 2024 to share their passion for connection, minimalism, and high tempos.
Django Jet is a Brno based band playing swing and French gypsy jazz which is known for its specific violin-guitar sound. The repertoire consists of French, Czech and American swing hits in combination with instrumental songs in the style of Django Reinhardt and his Hot Club de France.
The Peek-a-boo's is a unique combination of Prague and Brno swing music artists connected together exclusively for Absolutely Shag festival. Their repertoire includes compositions of the greatest swing era musicians such as Count Basie or Duke Ellington. They mix together vocals, trumpet, guitar, keyboard, double bass and drums to bring you the evening full of fast Shag tempo music.
